A new life brings new pressures
Settling into a new country. A visa that shapes every decision. Family expectations from back home. Raising children between two cultures. A relationship tested by distance from family support. Feeling alone, even when life looks good from the outside.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands — without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Australia
Indians are one of Australia's largest and fastest-growing migrant communities, with large communities in Melbourne, Sydney (including Harris Park, often called Little India), Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
What people in Australia often talk to us about:
- temporary skilled visas and the long wait for permanent residency;
- international students balancing study, work hours and rent;
- parents visiting for months at a time, and the adjustments that brings;
- career restarts after migrating, when overseas experience isn't recognised;
- raising children between two cultures, far from grandparents.
Times that can feel heavier: Diwali and family occasions spent apart, and the December holidays when India feels especially far away.
Our local support page lists free services in your area.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Australia. Our counsellors are not registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). When they work with clients in Australia, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not an Australian psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Australia. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with an Australian-registered GP, psychologist, psychiatrist or other health professional. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through Medicare rebates, Mental Health Treatment Plans, private health insurance, NDIS or workers' compensation, and may not qualify for workplace, employer or EAP reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Registered local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, Ahpra can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department. You can also contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
This doesn't affect your rights under Australian consumer law.
Frequently asked questions
What is Mantraminds?
Mantraminds is an India-based mental well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including Australia.
How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Australia?
A$60 per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.
Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Australia?
Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.
What time are sessions in Australia?
Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, an 11:30 AM India-time session is at 4:00 PM in Sydney in July and 5:00 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
Where can I get free mental health support in Australia?
Lifeline: call 13 11 14 (24/7). In an emergency, call 000. For ongoing care, you can speak to your GP. Our local support page lists more free services.
Is this therapy?
No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling — support with stress, relationships, parenting and life changes. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your GP.
Are your counsellors registered psychologists in Australia?
No. Our counsellors are postgraduate-qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered with Ahpra, do not use the title "psychologist" in Australia, and don't provide psychology services.
Can I claim a Medicare rebate?
No. All sessions are paid directly.
Do I have to be Indian to use Mantraminds?
Not at all. Our counsellors bring particular understanding of South Asian family life, but everyone is welcome.
Where are your counsellors based?
In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
How will you contact me?
By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.
Can I book a session for today?
Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.
What if I join late?
Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.
How will the payment appear on my statement?
As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.
Do you offer psychiatry or medication?
No — not for clients outside India.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
