Life in Switzerland

Life in Switzerland can mean high living costs, a permit that shapes your next move, and a new language to learn in a country with four of them. Many people are building careers in technology, finance, life sciences, research or international organisations in Zurich, Basel or Geneva, often with a partner who has paused their own work and family many hours away. Quiet Sundays, long winters and communities where friendships take time to grow can make it lonelier than it looks.

Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.

Supporting Indian families across Switzerland

Indian professionals, students and families live across Switzerland, especially around Zurich, Basel, Geneva and Lausanne. Many work in technology, banking and finance, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, research and universities, or with international organisations in Geneva.

What people in Switzerland often talk to us about:

  • settling in, permits and starting over in a new language;
  • pressure at work and long hours in demanding roles;
  • a partner who has put their own career on hold;
  • raising children between Indian and Swiss ways of life;
  • staying close to parents and family back home.

Times that can feel heavier: the first winter, Diwali and family weddings missed from afar, a permit renewal or job change, and when parents in India need care.

  • No crisis or emergency care

If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.

Important information

About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Switzerland. Our counsellors are not registered with the Psychology Professions Register (PsyReg) or licensed by any cantonal health authority. When they work with clients in Switzerland, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.

Not a health service. Our conversations are for everyday life challenges. They are not psychotherapy and don't identify or treat any illness. If you may be unwell, please see your doctor (Hausarzt / médecin de famille) or a licensed psychotherapist.

What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Swiss psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:

  • medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
  • treatment of any mental health condition;
  • prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
  • medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
  • emergency or crisis care.

When to seek care in Switzerland. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your GP (Hausärztin/Hausarzt, médecin de famille, medico di famiglia), who can refer you to a psychiatrist or a psychological psychotherapist covered by basic insurance. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.

Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through basic health insurance (LAMal/KVG), supplementary insurance (LCA/VVG), or employer schemes such as employee assistance programmes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.

Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.

In an emergency, call 144 (ambulance) or 112 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department (Notfall / urgences / pronto soccorso). You can also contact Die Dargebotene Hand / La Main Tendue / Telefono Amico (in German, French and Italian) (call 143 · chat and email at 143.ch).

This doesn't affect any rights you have under Swiss law. Swiss law doesn't give a general right to withdraw from online bookings, so our International Cancellation & Refund Policy applies.

Frequently asked questions

What is Mantraminds?

Mantraminds is an India-based well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including Switzerland.

How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Switzerland?

CHF 35 per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.

Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Switzerland?

Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.

What time are sessions in Switzerland?

Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 6:00 PM India-time session is at 2:30 PM in Zurich in July and 1:30 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.

Where can I get free mental health support in Switzerland?

Die Dargebotene Hand / La Main Tendue / Telefono Amico (in German, French and Italian): call 143 · chat and email at 143.ch (Day and night). In an emergency, call 144 (ambulance) or 112. For ongoing care, you can speak to your GP (Hausärztin/Hausarzt, médecin de famille, medico di famiglia), who can refer you to a psychiatrist or a psychological psychotherapist covered by basic insurance. Our local support page lists more free services.

Is this therapy?

No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your GP (Hausärztin/Hausarzt, médecin de famille, medico di famiglia), who can refer you to a psychiatrist or a psychological psychotherapist covered by basic insurance.

Are your counsellors registered in Switzerland?

No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in Switzerland, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.

Can I claim this through my basic or supplementary health insurance (LAMal/LCA)?

No. Our sessions are non-clinical well-being counselling, so they are not covered by basic insurance (LAMal/KVG) or supplementary insurance (LCA/VVG). Basic insurance covers psychotherapy by licensed psychological psychotherapists when a doctor prescribes it, so if you'd like that kind of care, your GP is the place to start.

Do I have a legal right to cancel after booking?

Swiss law doesn't give a general cooling-off right for online bookings, but our own cancellation policy lets you cancel or reschedule free of charge up to 6:00 PM India time, 2 days before the session, with a full refund.

Where are your counsellors based?

In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.

How will you contact me?

By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.

Can I book a session for today?

Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.

Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?

No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.

What if I join late?

Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.

How will the payment appear on my statement?

As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.

Is my information safe?

Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.

Do you offer psychiatry or medication?

No, not for clients outside India.

You don't have to figure it out alone.
