Life in Finland
Life in Finland can mean a residence permit tied to your job, learning one of the harder languages in Europe, and a working culture that values quiet independence. Many people are building careers in tech, engineering or research in Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere or Oulu, supporting a partner who is looking for work, or raising children between two cultures with family far away. Very long, dark winters and friendships that can take time to grow can make it lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Finland
Indian families and professionals live across Finland, most often in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu. Many work in IT, engineering, research and health care, or have come to study at Finnish universities.
What people in Finland often talk to us about:
- settling in and building friendships in a new country;
- learning Finnish or Swedish while managing work and family;
- raising children between Indian and Finnish ways of life;
- a partner's career pause or job search after a move;
- work pressure, career changes and permit uncertainty.
Times that can feel heavier: the long, dark winter months, Indian festivals spent away from family, and the first year after a move.
Our local support page lists free services in your area.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Finland. Our counsellors are not registered with the Finnish Supervisory Agency (Lupa- ja valvontavirasto, formerly Valvira) and are not listed in its JulkiTerhikki register of health care professionals. When they work with clients in Finland, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Finnish psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Finland. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your health centre (terveysasema), your occupational health service, or the Medical Helpline on 116 117. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through public health services in your wellbeing services county, Kela reimbursements, occupational health care (työterveyshuolto) or private health insurance, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest emergency department (päivystys). You can also contact MIELI Crisis Helpline (in Finnish) (call 09 2525 0111).
This doesn't affect your rights under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (kuluttajansuojalaki), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our International Cancellation & Refund Policy).
Frequently asked questions
What is Mantraminds?
Mantraminds is an India-based mental well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including Finland.
How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Finland?
€35 per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.
Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Finland?
Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.
What time are sessions in Finland?
Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 6:00 PM India-time session is at 3:30 PM in Helsinki in July and 2:30 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
Where can I get free mental health support in Finland?
MIELI Crisis Helpline (in Finnish): call 09 2525 0111 (24/7). In an emergency, call 112. For ongoing care, you can speak to your health centre (terveysasema), your occupational health service, or the Medical Helpline on 116 117. Our local support page lists more free services.
Is this therapy?
No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your health centre (terveysasema), your occupational health service, or the Medical Helpline on 116 117.
Are your counsellors registered in Finland?
No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in Finland, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.
Can I use Mantraminds through occupational health care (työterveyshuolto) or get a Kela reimbursement?
No. Mantraminds is a private, non-clinical service outside the Finnish health system, so sessions aren't part of occupational health care or public services and can't be reimbursed by Kela. Some employers may support private well-being services in other ways, so it is worth asking your HR team.
Are your counsellors psychologists or psychotherapists in Finland?
No. Our Well-being Counsellors hold postgraduate qualifications from India, but they are not licensed or registered health care professionals in Finland and are not listed in JulkiTerhikki. If you need care from a psychologist, psychotherapist or doctor, your health centre or occupational health service is the best place to start.
Where are your counsellors based?
In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
How will you contact me?
By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.
Can I book a session for today?
Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.
What if I join late?
Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.
How will the payment appear on my statement?
As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.
Do you offer psychiatry or medication?
No, not for clients outside India.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
