Life in Sweden
Life in Sweden can mean a work permit tied to one employer, a long wait in the housing queue, and learning Swedish while your team works in English. Many people are building careers in tech and engineering in Stockholm or Gothenburg, supporting a partner who is starting over, or raising children between two cultures with family many time zones away. Long, dark winters and a culture where friendships can take time to form can make it lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Sweden
Many Indians in Sweden work in IT, engineering and research, especially in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Lund and Uppsala, and the community has grown steadily.
What people in Sweden often talk to us about:
- a work permit tied to one employer, and what happens if a job changes;
- the long housing queue and short-term contracts;
- learning Swedish, and making friends in a culture where it can take time;
- partners looking for work, and children in Swedish preschools and schools;
- distance from family at important moments.
Times that can feel heavier: the long, dark Swedish winter, when daylight is short and days can feel isolating.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Sweden. Our counsellors are not registered with Socialstyrelsen's legitimation system (Sweden's licence for psychologists and psychotherapists). When they work with clients in Sweden, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Swedish psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Sweden. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your vårdcentral (health centre), or call 1177 for healthcare advice day and night. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through regional public healthcare (through your vårdcentral), private health insurance (sjukvårdsförsäkring) or employer schemes such as occupational health services (företagshälsovård), and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest emergency department (akutmottagning) or psychiatric emergency clinic (psykiatrisk akutmottagning). You can also contact Självmordslinjen (Mind, in Swedish): call 90101 · chat at mind.se.
This doesn't affect your rights under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (distansavtalslagen), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our International Cancellation & Refund Policy).

How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Sweden?
400 kr per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.
Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Sweden?
Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.
What time are sessions in Sweden?
Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 6:00 PM India-time session is at 2:30 PM in Stockholm in July and 1:30 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
Where can I get free mental health support in Sweden?
Självmordslinjen (Mind, in Swedish): call 90101 · chat at mind.se (24/7). In an emergency, call 112. For ongoing care, you can speak to your vårdcentral (health centre), or call 1177 for healthcare advice day and night. Our local support page lists more free services.
Is this therapy?
No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your vårdcentral (health centre), or call 1177 for healthcare advice day and night.
Are your counsellors registered in Sweden?
No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in Sweden, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.
Can I claim it on insurance?
No. All sessions are paid directly.
Where are your counsellors based?
In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
How will you contact me?
By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.
Can I book a session for today?
Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.
What if I join late?
Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.
How will the payment appear on my statement?
As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.
Do you offer psychiatry or medication?
No, not for clients outside India.
