Life in the Netherlands
Life in the Netherlands can mean a visa tied to one employer, a hard search for housing in the Randstad or Eindhoven, and family many hours and a time difference away. Many people are building careers in a direct, fast-moving work culture, supporting a partner who is restarting their own career, or raising children between two cultures without the extended family who would usually help. Long, dark winters can make it all feel heavier, even when life looks settled from the outside.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across the Netherlands
Many Indians in the Netherlands came as highly skilled migrants (kennismigranten), often in technology, engineering and research around Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and The Hague. The Netherlands is also home to a large Surinamese-Hindustani community with roots in India.
What people in the Netherlands often talk to us about:
- a residence permit tied to one employer and its salary requirements;
- finding a home in a tight housing market;
- learning Dutch and the integration process while working in English;
- partners rebuilding careers, and children growing up in Dutch schools;
- feeling far from family, even in a very international country.
Times that can feel heavier: grey, short winter days, and festivals spent away from home.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in the Netherlands. Our counsellors are not registered with the BIG register (the Dutch register of healthcare professionals). When they work with clients in the Netherlands, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Dutch psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in the Netherlands. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your huisarts (GP), who can connect you with a practice mental health worker (POH-GGZ) or refer you to mental health services (GGZ). If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering), supplementary insurance (aanvullende verzekering) or employer-funded schemes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department (Spoedeisende Hulp). You can also contact 113 Zelfmoordpreventie: Call 113 (free) · online chat at 113.nl.
This doesn't affect your rights under the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek) consumer rules, including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our International Cancellation & Refund Policy).

What is Mantraminds?
Mantraminds is an India-based mental well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including the Netherlands.
How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in the Netherlands?
€35 per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.
Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from the Netherlands?
Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.
What time are sessions in the Netherlands?
Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 6:00 PM India-time session is at 2:30 PM in Amsterdam in July and 1:30 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
Where can I get free mental health support in the Netherlands?
113 Zelfmoordpreventie: call 113 (free) · online chat at 113.nl (24/7). In an emergency, call 112. For ongoing care, you can speak to your huisarts (GP), who can connect you with a practice mental health worker (POH-GGZ) or refer you to mental health services (GGZ). Our local support page lists more free services.
Is this therapy?
No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your huisarts (GP), who can connect you with a practice mental health worker (POH-GGZ) or refer you to mental health services (GGZ).
Are your counsellors registered in the Netherlands?
No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in the Netherlands, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.
Can I claim it on insurance?
No. All sessions are paid directly.
Where are your counsellors based?
In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
How will you contact me?
By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.
Can I book a session for today?
Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.
What if I join late?
Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.
How will the payment appear on my statement?
As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.
Do you offer psychiatry or medication?
No, not for clients outside India.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
