Life in Denmark

Life in Denmark can mean a residence permit tied to your employer, a tight housing market in Copenhagen and Aarhus, and learning Danish while your workplace runs in English. Many people are building careers in tech, pharma, engineering or research, supporting a partner who is looking for work, or raising children between two cultures with family far away. Short winter days and a culture where close friendships can take time can make it lonelier than it looks.

Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.

Supporting Indian families across Denmark

Indian families and professionals live across Denmark, most often in and around Copenhagen, Aarhus and Odense. Many work in IT, engineering, life sciences, research and health care, or have come to study at Danish universities.

What people in Denmark often talk to us about:

  • settling in and finding friends in a new country;
  • learning Danish while managing work and family;
  • raising children between Indian and Danish ways of life;
  • a partner's career pause or job search after a move;
  • work pressure, career changes and permit uncertainty.

Times that can feel heavier: the dark months from November to February, Indian festivals spent away from family, and the first year after a move.

What our service is — and isn't

Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in Denmark:

  • No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
  • No psychiatric consultations or medication
  • No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
  • No crisis or emergency care

If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.

Important information

About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Denmark. Our counsellors are not registered with the Danish Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed) and are not on its authorisation register for psychologists. When they work with clients in Denmark, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.

What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Danish psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:

  • medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
  • treatment of any mental health condition;
  • prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
  • medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
  • emergency or crisis care.

When to seek care in Denmark. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your own doctor (egen læge), or the out-of-hours lægevagt (1813 in the Capital Region). If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.

Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through the public health insurance (sygesikring), including psychologist sessions referred by your doctor, private health insurance (sundhedsforsikring) or employer health schemes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.

Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.

In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest emergency department (akutmodtagelse). You can also contact Livslinien (in Danish; for crisis or thoughts of suicide) (call 70 201 201 · chat at livslinien.dk).

This doesn't affect your rights under the Danish Consumer Contracts Act (forbrugeraftaleloven), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our International Cancellation & Refund Policy).

Frequently asked questions

What is Mantraminds?

Mantraminds is an India-based mental well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including Denmark.

How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Denmark?

275 kr per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.

Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Denmark?

Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.

What time are sessions in Denmark?

Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 6:00 PM India-time session is at 2:30 PM in Copenhagen in July and 1:30 PM in January, as clocks change. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.

Where can I get free mental health support in Denmark?

Livslinien (in Danish; for crisis or thoughts of suicide): call 70 201 201 · chat at livslinien.dk (Daily 9am–5am). In an emergency, call 112. For ongoing care, you can speak to your own doctor (egen læge), or the out-of-hours lægevagt (1813 in the Capital Region). Our local support page lists more free services.

Is this therapy?

No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see your own doctor (egen læge), or the out-of-hours lægevagt (1813 in the Capital Region).

Are your counsellors registered in Denmark?

No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in Denmark, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.

Can I use Mantraminds through my doctor's referral, the public health insurance or my health insurance?

No. Mantraminds is a private, non-clinical service outside the Danish health system, so sessions can't be referred by your doctor or covered by the public health insurance (sygesikring), and private health insurance or employer health schemes are unlikely to cover them. Some employers may reimburse private well-being support, so it is worth asking.

Are your counsellors psychologists in Denmark?

No. Our Well-being Counsellors hold postgraduate qualifications from India, but they are not authorised by the Danish Patient Safety Authority (Styrelsen for Patientsikkerhed). If you need care from a psychologist or doctor, your own doctor (egen læge) is the best place to start.

Where are your counsellors based?

In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.

How will you contact me?

By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.

Can I book a session for today?

Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.

Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?

No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.

What if I join late?

Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.

How will the payment appear on my statement?

As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.

Is my information safe?

Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.

Do you offer psychiatry or medication?

No, not for clients outside India.

You don't have to figure it out alone.

Talk to someone who understands your life here and where you come from.
