Life in Nepal
Exams and the race for a stable job. Family hopes riding on your career, and decisions about marriage that involve everyone. Partners, siblings or children working abroad, and the quiet weight of holding a home together from a distance. Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through.
How we support people in Nepal
Nepal and India share language, culture and family ties, so our counsellors understand much of what shapes everyday life here. Many people want to talk to someone outside their own social circle, confidentially and without being recognised. Our India-based counsellors offer exactly that: a private space, away from anyone you know.
What people in Nepal often talk to us about:
- Exams, results and decisions about your career;
- A partner, child or sibling working abroad, and holding the home together;
- Expectations around marriage and family;
- The rising cost of living and money worries;
- Caring for elderly parents.
Times that can feel heavier: These pressures can build around Dashain and Tihar, when families come together, and in exam and results seasons.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Nepal. Our counsellors are not registered with the Nepal Health Professional Council (Nepal's regulator for health professionals, including clinical psychologists). When they work with clients in Nepal, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Nepali psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Nepal. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with a doctor, the psychiatry outpatient service at a hospital near you, or the Mental Hospital in Lagankhel, Lalitpur. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through Nepal's national health insurance programme (Health Insurance Board), private health insurance, or employer medical schemes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 100 (police) or 102 (ambulance) or go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital. You can also contact National Suicide Prevention Helpline (Mental Hospital, Lagankhel) (call 1166 (toll-free)).
This doesn't affect your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 (2018).
Frequently asked questions
What is Mantraminds?
Mantraminds is an India-based mental well-being service. It offers online, non-clinical well-being counselling for adults in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, in 23 countries outside India, including Nepal.
How much does online counselling with Mantraminds cost in Nepal?
NPR 3,500 per 50-minute session, paid one session at a time. Book at least one day ahead. There are no packages or lock-in.
Can I talk to a counsellor in Hindi from Nepal?
Yes. Sessions are offered in English, Hindi and other Indian languages, depending on counsellor availability. Tell us your preferred language when you sign up and we'll match you with a counsellor who speaks it, where we can.
What time are sessions in Nepal?
Sessions run during India daytime hours, within each counsellor's own availability. For example, a 4:30 PM India-time session is at 4:45 PM in Kathmandu. Your booking page shows every time in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
Where can I get free mental health support in Nepal?
National Suicide Prevention Helpline (Mental Hospital, Lagankhel): call 1166 (toll-free) (24/7). In an emergency, call 100 (police) or 102 (ambulance). For ongoing care, you can speak to a doctor, the psychiatry outpatient service at a hospital near you, or the Mental Hospital in Lagankhel, Lalitpur. Our local support page lists more free services.
Is this therapy?
No. Mantraminds provides well-being counselling: support with everyday life challenges, relationships, parenting and change. It isn't diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. For that, please see a doctor, the psychiatry outpatient service at a hospital near you, or the Mental Hospital in Lagankhel, Lalitpur.
Are your counsellors registered in Nepal?
No. Our counsellors are qualified in India and provide a non-clinical well-being service. They are not registered in Nepal, use only their Indian titles and registrations (always shown with "(India)"), and don't provide psychology or psychotherapy services.
Can I use my health insurance?
No. Our sessions are non-clinical well-being counselling provided from India, so they can't be claimed through Nepal's national health insurance programme (Health Insurance Board), private insurance or employer medical schemes. You pay the fee directly.
Will anyone I know find out I'm talking to a counsellor?
Your counsellor is based in India, outside your own social circle, and sessions are private and one-to-one. We don't tell anyone you use Mantraminds unless you ask us to, or the law or someone's safety requires it.
Where are your counsellors based?
In India. Sessions take place online by secure video during India daytime hours, shown in your local time. We're not a 24/7 service.
How will you contact me?
By email, which is our preferred way to communicate, or through the chat on this website. We also ask for your WhatsApp number when you sign up, and use it only if we need to reach you urgently, for example about your safety or a session that can't go ahead.
Can I book a session for today?
Usually not. Please book at least one day ahead (India time). Same-day sessions are offered only in exceptional cases, if a counsellor happens to be free. If you need support today, see the free services on our local support page. You pay when you book.
Do I have to commit to a set number of sessions?
No. You pay for one session at a time and can stop whenever you like.
What if I join late?
Your session still ends at its scheduled time. If you haven't joined within 15 minutes, it counts as a no-show and isn't refunded. If your counsellor is late, we'll make up the time or give you session credit.
How will the payment appear on my statement?
As MANTRAMINDS. You pay when you book. If you cancel in time, we refund the full amount to your card (your bank decides how quickly it shows). If anything looks wrong, email care@mantraminds.com and we'll sort it out.
Is my information safe?
Yes. Your information is stored securely in India and handled in line with our International Privacy Policy.
Do you offer psychiatry or medication?
No, not for clients outside India.
You don't have to figure it out alone.
