Finding the right support in Portugal
Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across Portugal, and the options below are a good place to start.
If you are in danger right now
If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 112.
If you need to talk to someone now:
| Service | How to reach them | When |
|---|---|---|
| SNS 24 — psychological counselling line | Call 808 24 24 24 and ask for psychological counselling | 24/7 |
| SOS Voz Amiga | Call 213 544 545 · 912 802 669 · 963 524 660 · 930 712 500 | Every day, 3.30pm–12.30am |
Getting mental health care
Start with your médico de família
Your family doctor at your local centro de saúde (health centre) is usually the best first step. Say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can talk through how you're feeling and, if it's right for you, refer you to SNS mental health services, including psychology or psychiatry.
If you're not yet registered with a centro de saúde, ask at the one nearest your home. You'll usually need your SNS user number (número de utente).
SNS 24
- Phone: 808 24 24 24, any time. SNS 24 can give health advice, tell you where to go for care and connect you with its psychological counselling team.
