Getting mental health care
Start with your GP
Your GP (family doctor) is usually the best first step. They can talk through how you've been feeling and connect you with the right support, including specialist mental health services if needed.
Free support at many GP practices
Many GP practices have a Health Improvement Practitioner or Health Coach on the team. They offer free, quick support for anything affecting your well-being, often on the same day. Ask your practice whether they offer this — you don't need to meet any criteria.
1737
If you're not sure where to start, free call or text 1737 at any time. A trained counsellor will listen and can point you to services near you.
