Life in Sweden
Life in Sweden can mean a work permit tied to one employer, a long wait in the housing queue, and learning Swedish while your team works in English. Many people are building careers in tech and engineering in Stockholm or Gothenburg, supporting a partner who is starting over, or raising children between two cultures with family many time zones away. Long, dark winters and a culture where friendships can take time to form can make it lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Sweden
Many Indians in Sweden work in IT, engineering and research, especially in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, Lund and Uppsala, and the community has grown steadily.
What people in Sweden often talk to us about:
- a work permit tied to one employer, and what happens if a job changes;
- the long housing queue and short-term contracts;
- learning Swedish, and making friends in a culture where it can take time;
- partners looking for work, and children in Swedish preschools and schools;
- distance from family at important moments.
Times that can feel heavier: the long, dark Swedish winter, when daylight is short and days can feel isolating.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in Sweden:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.
Need urgent help?
If you're in crisis or feel unsafe, please don't wait for a session:
- Emergency: call 112
- Självmordslinjen (Mind, in Swedish): Call 90101 · chat at mind.se (24/7)
- Jourhavande medmänniska (in Swedish): Call 08-702 16 80 (Daily 9pm–6am)
Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Sweden. Our counsellors are not registered with Socialstyrelsen's legitimation system (Sweden's licence for psychologists and psychotherapists). When they work with clients in Sweden, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Swedish psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Sweden. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your vårdcentral (health centre), or call 1177 for healthcare advice day and night. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through regional public healthcare (through your vårdcentral), private health insurance (sjukvårdsförsäkring) or employer schemes such as occupational health services (företagshälsovård), and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest emergency department (akutmottagning) or psychiatric emergency clinic (psykiatrisk akutmottagning). You can also contact Självmordslinjen (Mind, in Swedish): call 90101 · chat at mind.se.
This doesn't affect your rights under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (distansavtalslagen), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ).
