Life in South Korea
Life in South Korea can mean long working hours, a visa tied to your job or your studies, and getting by with limited Korean while your team, your landlord and your child's school mostly use Korean. Many people are building careers in IT, engineering or research in Seoul, Pangyo or Daejeon, studying for a postgraduate degree, or supporting a partner who moved for work, with family hours away. Finding familiar food, a festival celebrated the way you know it, or a friend who understands can take time, and it can feel lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families in South Korea
Indian professionals in South Korea often work in IT, engineering, research and business in and around Seoul, Pangyo and Daejeon, and many students come for postgraduate study and research. We offer a calm, private space to talk things through in English or an Indian language.
What people in South Korea often talk to us about:
- Settling into Korean work culture, long hours and the language barrier;
- Visa, contract and career decisions;
- Relationships, and raising children between Indian and Korean cultures;
- Postgraduate study, research pressure and homesickness;
- Staying close to, and caring for, family in India.
Times that can feel heavier: Korea is 3½ hours ahead of India, so our India daytime sessions fall in your afternoon and evening.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in South Korea:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.
Need urgent help?
If you're in crisis or feel unsafe, please don't wait for a session:
- Emergency: call 112 (police) or 119 (fire and ambulance)
- Suicide Prevention Counselling Line (Ministry of Health and Welfare; in Korean): Call 109 (24/7)
- Mental Health Crisis Counselling Line (in Korean): Call 1577-0199 (24/7)
- Danuri Call Center (for migrants and multicultural families; English and 14 other languages): Call 1577-1366 (24/7)
Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in South Korea. Our counsellors are not registered with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's mental health professional qualification (정신건강전문요원) or the Korean Psychological Association's certification system. When they work with clients in South Korea, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Korean psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in South Korea. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with a doctor at a local clinic or a psychiatry clinic (정신건강의학과), or the Mental Health Welfare Centre (정신건강복지센터) in your area. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through National Health Insurance (국민건강보험), private indemnity insurance (실손보험), government counselling vouchers or employer assistance programmes (EAP), and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 (police) or 119 (fire and ambulance) or go to the emergency room (응급실) of your nearest hospital. You can also contact Suicide Prevention Counselling Line (Ministry of Health and Welfare; in Korean) (call 109).
This doesn't affect your rights under Korean law, including your right to withdraw from a booking within 7 days of your booking confirmation, as long as the session hasn't started (Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce; see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ). Business information required by Korean law is on our legal disclosure page .
