Finding the right support in South Korea

Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across South Korea. The options below are a good place to start.

Prefer English? The Danuri Call Center (1577-1366) is open day and night, with counsellors who speak English and 14 other languages. It can also interpret for you on calls with hospitals, the police or schools. The Immigration Contact Center (1345) answers in English from 9am to 10pm. The crisis lines below work in Korean.

If you are in danger right now

If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 112 (police) or 119 (fire and ambulance), or go to the emergency room (응급실) of your nearest hospital.

If you need to talk to someone now:

Service How to reach them When
Suicide Prevention Counselling Line (in Korean) Call 109 24/7
Mental Health Crisis Counselling Line (in Korean) Call 1577-0199 24/7
Danuri Call Center (English and 14 other languages) Call 1577-1366 24/7

Getting mental health care

Start with a doctor

A doctor at a local clinic, or a psychiatry clinic (정신건강의학과), is usually the best first step. Say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can listen, look at what's going on and, if it's right for you, connect you with further care.

Your local Mental Health Welfare Centre

Most areas have a Mental Health Welfare Centre (정신건강복지센터), run with the local government. It can offer counselling and help you find services near you.
