Life in Norway
Life in Norway can mean a residence permit tied to your job, a high cost of living, and learning Norwegian while your team works in English. Many people are building careers in tech, energy or research in Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen or Trondheim, supporting a partner who is starting again, or raising children between two cultures with grandparents far away. Long, dark winters and a culture where friendships can take time to form can make it lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Norway
Indian families and professionals live across Norway, most often in and around Oslo, Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim. Many work in IT, engineering, energy, research and health care, or have come to study at Norwegian universities.
What people in Norway often talk to us about:
- settling in and building a social circle in a new country;
- learning Norwegian while juggling work and family;
- raising children between Indian and Norwegian ways of life;
- staying close to parents and family back in India;
- work pressure, career changes and permit uncertainty.
Times that can feel heavier: the long, dark winter months, Indian festivals spent far from family, and the first year after a move.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in Norway:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.
Need urgent help?
If you're in crisis or feel unsafe, please don't wait for a session:

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Norway. Our counsellors are not registered with Helsedirektoratet's health personnel register (HPR), and do not hold Norwegian authorisation as health personnel. When they work with clients in Norway, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
Not a health service. Our conversations are for everyday life challenges. They don't identify or treat any illness, and we don't work with serious illness. If you may be unwell, please see your fastlege.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Norwegian psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Norway. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your fastlege (regular GP), or the out-of-hours legevakt on 116 117. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through the public health service (through your fastlege or HELFO), private health insurance (helseforsikring) or your employer's occupational health service (bedriftshelsetjeneste), and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 113 or go to your nearest legevakt (out-of-hours emergency clinic) or hospital emergency department (akuttmottak). You can also contact Mental Helse Hjelpetelefonen (in Norwegian) (call 116 123).
This doesn't affect your rights under the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ).
