Finding the right support in Norway
Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across Norway, and the options below are a good place to start.
Prefer English? The support lines below mainly work in Norwegian, but it's fine to ask whether someone can speak English with you. Vold- og overgrepslinjen (116 006) has English, and Alarmtelefonen (116 111) can bring in an interpreter.
If you are in danger right now
If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 113 (medical emergency) or 112 (police).
If you need to talk to someone now:
| Service | How to reach them | When |
|---|---|---|
| Mental Helse Hjelpetelefonen (in Norwegian) | Call 116 123 · free | 24/7 |
| Kirkens SOS (in Norwegian) | Call 22 40 00 40 · chat at soschat.no | 24/7 |
Getting mental health care
Start with your fastlege
Your fastlege (regular GP) is usually the best first step. Book an appointment and say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can listen, look at what's going on and, if it's right for you, refer you to a psychologist or other mental health care.
Legevakt
- Phone: 116 117, free, connects you to your local legevakt (out-of-hours medical service) when your GP is closed and you can't wait.
- In person: it's best to call first, so they can advise you before you go.
Specialised support
| If you're dealing with… | Service | Contact |

If you're worried about a child
If a child is in immediate danger, call 112. Otherwise, contact the child welfare service (barnevernet) in your municipality. Children, young people and worried adults can call Alarmtelefonen on 116 111, day and night.
When you're ready
Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
