Life in the Netherlands
Life in the Netherlands can mean a visa tied to one employer, a hard search for housing in the Randstad or Eindhoven, and family many hours and a time difference away. Many people are building careers in a direct, fast-moving work culture, supporting a partner who is restarting their own career, or raising children between two cultures without the extended family who would usually help. Long, dark winters can make it all feel heavier, even when life looks settled from the outside.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across the Netherlands
Many Indians in the Netherlands came as highly skilled migrants (kennismigranten), often in technology, engineering and research around Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and The Hague. The Netherlands is also home to a large Surinamese-Hindustani community with roots in India.
What people in the Netherlands often talk to us about:
- a residence permit tied to one employer and its salary requirements;
- finding a home in a tight housing market;
- learning Dutch and the integration process while working in English;
- partners rebuilding careers, and children growing up in Dutch schools;
- feeling far from family, even in a very international country.
Times that can feel heavier: grey, short winter days, and festivals spent away from home.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in the Netherlands:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in the Netherlands. Our counsellors are not registered with the BIG register (the Dutch register of healthcare professionals). When they work with clients in the Netherlands, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Dutch psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in the Netherlands. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your huisarts (GP), who can connect you with a practice mental health worker (POH-GGZ) or refer you to mental health services (GGZ). If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering), supplementary insurance (aanvullende verzekering) or employer-funded schemes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department (Spoedeisende Hulp). You can also contact 113 Zelfmoordpreventie: Call 113 (free) · online chat at 113.nl.
This doesn't affect your rights under the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek) consumer rules, including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ).
