Life in Germany
Building a life in Germany can mean learning a new language while working in an English-speaking team, finding your way through paperwork and appointments, and searching for housing in a tight market. Many people are balancing a Blue Card career or university studies with part-time work, a partner looking for their own footing, or children growing up between two cultures, with family a long way away. Long winters and the distance from home can make it feel lonely, even when everything seems to be going well.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Germany
Germany's Indian community has grown fast, with many engineers, IT professionals, researchers and students in cities such as Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Cologne.
What people in Germany often talk to us about:
- EU Blue Card and residence permit renewals, and waiting for appointments;
- learning German while working in an English-speaking team;
- the search for an apartment and the paperwork of settling in;
- students balancing study, part-time work and finances;
- partners finding their footing, and children starting German schools.
Times that can feel heavier: the long winter months, and festivals like Diwali spent far from family.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in Germany:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.
Need urgent help?
If you're in crisis or feel unsafe, please don't wait for a session:
- Emergency: call 112
- TelefonSeelsorge (in German): Call 0800 111 0 111, 0800 111 0 222 or 116 123 (free) · chat and email at telefonseelsorge.de (24/7)
Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Germany. Our counsellors are not registered with the Psychotherapeutenkammern (Germany's chambers of licensed psychotherapists). When they work with clients in Germany, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
Not a health service. Our conversations are for everyday life challenges. They don't identify, treat or relieve any illness, and they are not psychotherapy (Psychotherapie) or healing practice (Heilkunde). If you may be unwell, please see your Hausarzt or a licensed psychotherapist.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a German psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Germany. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your Hausarzt (family doctor) or a licensed psychotherapist. You can contact a psychotherapist directly without a referral, and 116117 can help you find an appointment. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung, such as TK, AOK or Barmer), private health insurance (PKV) or employer-funded schemes, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest hospital emergency department (Notaufnahme). You can also contact TelefonSeelsorge (in German): call 0800 111 0 111, 0800 111 0 222 or 116 123 (free) · chat and email at telefonseelsorge.de.
This doesn't affect your rights under the German Civil Code (BGB) consumer rules, including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ).
