Finding the right support in Germany
Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across Germany, and the options below are a good place to start.
A note on language: many of the services below work mainly in German. Where we know a service offers English, we've said so. If German is hard for you right now, it's fine to ask whether someone can speak English, or to ask a friend you trust to help with the call.
If you are in danger right now
If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 112.
If you need to talk to someone now:
| Service | How to reach them | When |
|---|---|---|
| TelefonSeelsorge (in German) | Call 0800 111 0 111, 0800 111 0 222 or 116 123 (free) · chat and email at telefonseelsorge.de | 24/7 |
Getting mental health care
Start with your family doctor or a psychotherapist
Your Hausarzt (family doctor) is a good first step. Ask for an appointment and say you'd like to talk about your mental health. You can also contact a licensed psychotherapist directly. You don't need a referral, and the first step is a short initial consultation (psychotherapeutische Sprechstunde) to work out what would help.
Your health insurance (statutory or private) usually covers care from licensed psychotherapists. Waiting lists can be long, so it's worth contacting several practices or asking 116117 for help.
116117 — patient service
- Phone: 116117 (24/7). Help when you're unwell outside surgery hours, and help finding and booking an appointment with a doctor or psychotherapist. The website is available in English.

If you're worried about a child
If a child is in immediate danger, call 112. Otherwise, contact the Jugendamt (youth welfare office) for your town or district. Every area has one, and you can search "Jugendamt" with the name of your town to find it. For advice as a parent or carer, you can also call the Elterntelefon on 0800 111 0550.
When you're ready
Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
