Life in Finland
Life in Finland can mean a residence permit tied to your job, learning one of the harder languages in Europe, and a working culture that values quiet independence. Many people are building careers in tech, engineering or research in Helsinki, Espoo, Tampere or Oulu, supporting a partner who is looking for work, or raising children between two cultures with family far away. Very long, dark winters and friendships that can take time to grow can make it lonelier than it looks.
Mantraminds offers a calm, confidential space to talk it through with someone who understands, without having to explain your culture first.
Supporting Indian families across Finland
Indian families and professionals live across Finland, most often in Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Tampere, Turku and Oulu. Many work in IT, engineering, research and health care, or have come to study at Finnish universities.
What people in Finland often talk to us about:
- settling in and building friendships in a new country;
- learning Finnish or Swedish while managing work and family;
- raising children between Indian and Finnish ways of life;
- a partner's career pause or job search after a move;
- work pressure, career changes and permit uncertainty.
Times that can feel heavier: the long, dark winter months, Indian festivals spent away from family, and the first year after a move.

What our service is — and isn't
Mantraminds offers well-being counselling for adults (18+): support with life's everyday challenges. To keep you safe, we're clear about what we don't offer in Finland:
- No diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions
- No psychiatric consultations or medication
- No sessions for under-18s (we support parents instead)
- No crisis or emergency care
If our team feels you'd benefit from clinical care, we'll tell you honestly and help you find local services.
Need urgent help?
If you're in crisis or feel unsafe, please don't wait for a session:
- Emergency: call 112
- MIELI Crisis Helpline (in Finnish): Call 09 2525 0111 (24/7)

Important information
About our counsellors. Mantraminds is based in India, and we hope to support people wherever they live. Our Well-being Counsellors are qualified and experienced in India, and some hold Indian registrations. Overseas qualifications and registrations do not give anyone registration to practise in Finland. Our counsellors are not registered with the Finnish Supervisory Agency (Lupa- ja valvontavirasto, formerly Valvira) and are not listed in its JulkiTerhikki register of health care professionals. When they work with clients in Finland, they act only as Well-being Counsellors, not as psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists or medical practitioners.
What this service doesn't provide. Our service is not a Finnish psychology, psychiatry or medical service. It doesn't provide:
- medical, psychiatric or psychological diagnosis, or diagnostic assessment;
- treatment of any mental health condition;
- prescribing, or advice on starting, stopping or changing medication;
- medical certificates, reports, letters or certificates for legal, insurance, employment, immigration or court purposes;
- emergency or crisis care.
When to seek care in Finland. If you have a diagnosed or suspected mental health condition, symptoms that are significant or getting worse, need medication or medical advice, or are already receiving mental health treatment, please seek or continue care with your health centre (terveysasema), your occupational health service, or the Medical Helpline on 116 117. If your counsellor thinks you need clinical care, they will tell you and suggest local services.
Claims and reimbursement. Sessions can't be claimed through public health services in your wellbeing services county, Kela reimbursements, occupational health care (työterveyshuolto) or private health insurance, and may not qualify for workplace or employer reimbursement. Please check with your employer before booking.
Your choice. Local services are available to you. By booking, you confirm you've chosen an India-based, non-clinical service instead, knowing the points above. Because our counsellors aren't registered locally, local regulators can't take complaints about them. Please bring any concern to us at contact@mantraminds.com.
In an emergency, call 112 or go to your nearest emergency department (päivystys). You can also contact MIELI Crisis Helpline (in Finnish) (call 09 2525 0111).
This doesn't affect your rights under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (kuluttajansuojalaki), including your right to cancel within 14 days (see our Cancellation & Refund Policy ).
