Finding the right support in Sri Lanka

Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across Sri Lanka, and the options below are a good place to start.

Getting mental health care

Start with a doctor

A doctor is a good first step. Say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can assess how you're doing and, if it's right for you, refer you to a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist.

Government hospital services

  • Psychiatry clinics run at government hospitals across the country. Care there is free.
  • National Institute of Mental Health (Angoda): the country's main specialist mental health hospital.

If you're seeing a clinical psychologist privately, you can ask whether they're registered with the Sri Lanka Medical Council.

Specialised support

If you're dealing with… Service Contact
Violence against women, including domestic violence Women's Helpline (National Committee on Women) 1938 (free)
Children and young people National Child Protection Authority, 1929 Childline 1929 (free) · 24/7

If you're worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, call 119. Otherwise, call the National Child Protection Authority on 1929. The line is free from any network, open 24 hours a day, and anyone, child or adult, can call.

When you're ready

Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
