Finding the right support in Nepal

Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across Nepal, and the options below are a good place to start.

Prefer English? The Tourist Police (1144) speak good English and can help you reach other services.

If you are in danger right now

If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 100 (police) or 102 (ambulance), or go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital.

Getting mental health care

Start with a doctor

A doctor is a good first step. Say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can assess how you're doing and, if it's right for you, refer you to a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist.

Hospital mental health services

  • Mental Hospital, Lagankhel (Lalitpur): Nepal's dedicated government mental hospital.
  • Psychiatry outpatient services are also available at major hospitals, including Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and Patan Hospital.

If you're seeing a clinical psychologist privately, you can ask whether they're registered with the Nepal Health Professional Council.

If you're worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, call 100. Otherwise, contact Child Helpline Nepal on 1098 (toll-free). It offers counselling, rescue and referrals, and has offices in several districts across Nepal.

When you're ready

Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
