Finding the right support in France

Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available across France, and the options below are a good place to start.

Prefer English? SOS Help offers a listening line in English on 01 46 21 46 46, every day from 3pm to 11pm. The other services below mainly work in French, but it's fine to ask whether someone can speak English with you.

If you are in danger right now

If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 112 or 15.

If you need to talk to someone now:

Service How to reach them When
3114 — national suicide prevention line (in French) Call 3114 · free 24/7
SOS Amitié (in French) Call 09 72 39 40 50 24/7
SOS Help (in English) Call 01 46 21 46 46 Daily 3pm–11pm

Getting mental health care

Start with your médecin traitant

Your médecin traitant (GP) is usually the best first step. Ask for an appointment and say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can listen, look at what's going on and, if it's right for you, refer you to a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

Mon soutien psy

  • What it is: an Assurance Maladie scheme covering up to 12 sessions a year with psychologists who have joined it.
  • How to start: your doctor can give you a written referral and help you find a psychologist in the scheme. Your mutuelle usually covers the part the Assurance Maladie doesn't.

Specialised support

If you're dealing with… Service Contact
Violence against women Violences Femmes Info 3919 · free · anonymous · 24/7
A child at risk Allô Enfance en Danger 119 · free · 24/7

If you're worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, call 17 or 112. Otherwise, call 119 (Allô Enfance en Danger), free, day and night — children, young people and worried adults can all call, and it doesn't appear on phone bills.

When you're ready

Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
