Finding the right support in Bangladesh

Mantraminds offers non-clinical well-being counselling. If you need more support than we can offer, such as care from a doctor, a mental health professional or a specialist service, free and confidential help is available in Bangladesh, and the options below are a good place to start.

If you are in danger right now

If your life, or someone else's, is at risk, call 999 or go to the emergency department of your nearest hospital. The 999 line is free and open day and night.

If you need to talk to someone now:

Service How to reach them When
Kaan Pete Roi (emotional support and suicide prevention) Call 09612 119911 Daily, 3pm–3am

Kaan Pete Roi isn't open 24 hours. Outside its hours, please call 999 or go to your nearest hospital.

Getting mental health care

Start with a doctor

A doctor is a good first step. Say you'd like to talk about your mental health. They can assess how you're doing and, if it's right for you, refer you to a psychiatrist or a clinical psychologist.

Hospital mental health services

  • National Institute of Mental Health and Hospital (Dhaka): the country's main government mental health hospital.
  • Psychiatry departments at government medical college hospitals across the country.

Specialised support

If you're dealing with… Service Contact
Violence against women and children, including domestic violence National Helpline Centre for Violence against Women and Children (Ministry of Women and Children Affairs) 109 (free) · 24 hours
Children and young people Child Helpline 1098 (free)

If you're worried about a child

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. Otherwise, call the Child Helpline on 1098. It's free from any mobile network, and anyone can call to report concerns about a child's safety or wellbeing.

When you're ready

Getting the right care comes first. When things feel steadier and you'd like support with family, relationships, work or life changes, we'd be glad to hear from you again.
